Terms Used For Roulette Bets
Most games have their own dialect, roulette is no different. If one doesn’t know the lingo it is easy to get lost in conversation. These are the terms that you need to know.
Most of the terms indicate a specific type of bet; here are the ones that are more common when talking about outside bets. “High” or “low” is an outside bet if you are betting “high” than you are betting that the ball will land on a high number 19-36, or if you are betting “low” you are betting that the ball will land on the numbers 1-18, they has roughly 50% chance of winning.
“Black” or “red” are also roughly 50% bets, if you are betting “black” than you are betting that the ball will land on a black space, if you are betting “red” than you are betting that the ball will land on a red space. There is only one more bet that offer nearly 50/50 odds, and those are the bets “even” and the bet “odd”, “even” is when you bet the ball will land on an even number, and “odd” means that you bet the ball will land on an odd number.
While the outside bets are mostly self explanatory, the nicknames for the inside bets aren’t so. Inside bets make it possible for you to bet on individual numbers, the odds are heavily against you but the payout is very high, this bet is called the “single” for example if you want to bet on the number three than your bet would be “single three”. These bets are sometimes known as “straight bets”. It is possible to bet on what is called a “square” or a “quarter” it means that if the ball lands on four numbers that are right next to each other you win. A “split bet” is a bet on two neighboring numbers like “28 and 32”.
If learning lingo isn’t really your thing than I suggest you play online roulette, since you don’t need to have all of the terms known by heart because you can look them up whenever you like.
