Bowling Tips, Sport Psychology Library
Let’s talk about bowling tips. When you go bowling, the places that you go have equipment that you can rent, but if you play a lot you’re going to want to purchase your own equipment. When it comes time to buy a bowling ball, they can make the holes to fit your fingers just right.
The color and the weight of the ball come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Sometime ago all the balls weighted the same weight which is 16 pounds. Nowadays people take pleasure in bowling with the weight ranging from 10 to 16 pounds. When you hold the ball in your hands you want the fingers to go in and out of the holes with ease.
At this moment you’re prepared to play the game. You want to stand in the correct way. If you don’t get this right, the ball will not go in the direction you want it to go.
When a person is a beginner there are a few steps you can follow to get more advanced in the game. Master the basics to the game first. Don’t throw a hook or a curve until you mastered the straight ball. You have a 3, 4 and 5 step delivery. It depends on your body type which one you should use.
Once you’ve got the starting point down the ball making the delivery to the pins is called the pushaway. You swing the bowling ball with your arm down, away and to the right.
Now we have the footwork to work on. Walk 3 to 5 steps then move the right leg behind the left leg as that one stays out in front.
The pins that you’re aiming to hit are 5 inches wide. 9 inches wide is the width of the ball. Make an attempt to strike the pin at its core. When you hit one pin, it will make others fall down as well. If you practice a lot at it, you can knock all the pins down in one go.
Now you’re going to want to work on your timing, where the ball makes contact with the floor. Depending on how good you are with this, will determine what kind of a bowler you will be. Perform the same task at home using pillows.
Now we will work on the follow through. The follow through is where your body goes once you let go of the ball to hit the pins. So your arms are still moving long after you drop the ball. When your hands get to shoulder length that is where your arms stop. The follow through should be a natural process. Now you know some of my bowling tips.
