Washington DC Vacation in Rock Creek Park
A Washington DC vacation can be a time of hurrying from one place to another. You may want to take a break and visit Rock Creek Park where you can stroll through the wooded area and just listen to the quiet. You may want to stop in at the planetarium and see the wonders of the sky above. The park will give you that time to regroup, gain some peace and prepare to go back to the schedule of museums and cultural events planned for the rest of your Washington DC vacation.
As you stroll along the paths of the park you may have a chance to see a whitetail deer or maybe a fox. There are signs of beaver activity that you may want to spend some time observing. Since the park has the largest density of raccoons in the US you may see them as they prepare their food to eat or just wash up in the creek. Enjoy the opportunity to see nature at its best, at least in the DC area.
The Park Rangers give tours for all ages. You can choose the tour you are interested in whether it is on bike, foot or horseback. Learn about what makes the park different from others; hear about the plants and animals that live there. If you choose to take the bike tour you will need to bring your own bike and be sure to bring along some water since you will want a drink and there isn’t anyplace to get one along the path. At the end of your tour spend some time at the planetarium for a beautiful conclusion to a great day at the park.
